Today’s youth is coming up with some of the most innovative inventions these days.  Now another teen inventor is getting some well-deserved attention for an even more ambitious project -- an artificial arm that can be controlled by Bluetooth-powered brainwaves.  The invention is the work of 15-year-old high-school sophomore Shiva Nathan. He was inspired to design the prosthetic, called the Arduino Prosthesis, when his cousin in India lost both of her arms in an explosion.  To read the complete article at Design News Click Here >>

DMLS Technology Brings New Cooling Strategies to Mold Making

Posted by NOVATION Staff on May 7, 2014 12:06:00 PM

Conformal cooling can minimize heat-induced product defects such as residual stress, warpage, voids, sink marks, etc. that can occur from injection molding.  The improved cooling can also reduce cyle times, thus lowering your part cost.  Using DMLS (Direct Metal Laser Sintering) to make cavities and cores provides the ability to manufacture any arbitrary shape of cooling channel to fit the part surface perfectly. By changing the cooling circuits to more closely follow the product contour, the temperature distribution is more uniform and hot/cold spots can be eliminated.
